A modular sofa that integrates a mechanism for varying the seat depth directly into its design. The backrest, thanks to an integrated roller, rotates and moves backwards with a continuous and controlled motion, altering the configuration of the sofa: the seat depth shifts from 65 cm in a more composed position, suitable for conversation and hosting, to 90 cm in a more relaxed arrangement. Movement becomes form; function becomes language. The modular composition allows for different configurations: each element can also be used individually, enabling the seat depth to be adjusted independently. A sofa that no longer hides the desire to relax, but places it at the center, finally.
Davide Biancucci is a designer who works by constantly relating the past, present, and future. His design practice, characterized by a strong focus on research, aims to avoid redundancy, propose an authentic language through objects, and define his role as a designer in harmony with the issues and needs of contemporary society. From this perspective, he is interested in shaping the future, aware that knowledge of the past and analysis of the present are the tools that allow him to do so. His monodisciplinary approach generates multidirectional outcomes. His design outputs range from industrial design to design editions, from exhibition design to visual consultancy for companies and magazines, exploring the many possibilities offered by today’s design discipline.
